Our History
Subbiah Dharmanidhi was founded in 1934 by the visionary philanthropist Sri A.R.A. Subbiah Nadar (1871–1943), who believed that the progress of society depended on women’s education.
In 1937, Subbiah Vidyalayam was established to uplift girls in and around Thoothukudi.Successive Managing Trustees contributed significantly to the growth of the institution—
Sri A.R.A.S. Arumugasamy Nadar,Sri A.R.A.S. Duraisamy Nadar,Sri S. Natarajan,Sri D. Shenbagamurthi,Sri N. Rajagopalan,Sri N. Subbiah,and Sri D. Ganesan — each played a vital role in developing the school’s infrastructure, academics, and values.
From 2018, the fourth-generation successor Mr. R. Murali Ganesan serves as Secretary with an innovative and futuristic vision.

The school’s Atal Tinkering Lab, supported by the Government’s ATAL initiative, has been ranked among the top 30 ATAL-established schools nationwide, promoting innovation, creativity and scientific thinking among students.

Our clean and green campus was honoured with the State Swachh Puraskar Award, recognising our commitment to hygiene, environment-friendly practices and sustainability.
